We are infinitely far from the end of history. Don't believe the hype all those religious types are intoning — the world will end in approximately 5-8 bilion years, not this year or the next.
I reckon that if history was to end any time soon, it'd be the day right before we get our UAI's. I would be cheering, I'd never have to regret bludging all of year 12! As for the rest of you poor children, you'd be wondering why you bothered trying... I'm kinda hoping my prediction comes true.
haha well it wasnt robert, but yes it was a random hist ext person. and do you mean history as in people writing about the past, or history as in stuff happening?
As an extension history student, i'm sure you've been given various definitions of 'history'. It's an open ended question so interpret 'history' however you may wish to.
but now there could be any number of interpretations of the question. are you asking me how long i think it will be til people stop writing about the past? OR are you asking me when i think the world will end?
Is that Megan asking what history is anyways? I thought you really hated pomos. Anyways Thuy-An, I'm friends with the Guy in the Sky, he could make it work for me lol.
yeah im a pomophobe, but i wasnt saying that there is no history. i dont understand how the past, present and future can be the same thing... unless you're talking cyclical history and i dont think you are.
Ah, so you do think the world is going down. Being the cynic that you are, would you like to be there watching, with a bowl of buttered popcorn maybe? Or would you be one of the chosen ones, especially selected on the grounds of your undeniable superiority, shipped off to live on Jupiter? (It's the sleep deprivation talking.)
'And so, from hour to hour, we ripe and ripe;
And then, from hour to hour, we rot and rot;
And thereby hangs a tale…'
William Shakespeare, As You Like It, II:7

Please tell me it wasn't Robert (or any other random extension history person) who posted the last comment.

I'm asking how long it will be before the past, present and future become one.
By Yuki, at June 13, 2005 7:26 PM
... well then my answer is never, because answering otherwise would get me caught in a logic loop.

I've made quite a grude match out of my relationship with the guy up there. Don't be surprised if you find me with a raincloud hovering overhead.

Has been tomorrow, is today and will be yesterday.
If that's the order of our lives then history equates to nay.
Iambic Heptameter. Whatever it is I'm saying doesn't mean a terrible lot, but I've got rythm and rhyme baby! Better than regurgitating theory.

at least it isn't iambic pentameter...

But there is difference between "become one" and "same thing".

Ah I gotchya dear. Alan, when do you think the world's going down?
By Anonymous, at June 13, 2005 10:30 PM
I think the world is forever exploding and imploding.
By Yuki, at June 13, 2005 10:36 PM
Well even if that were the case, do you think the sun is going to explode and destroy our world as we know it?
By Anonymous, at June 13, 2005 11:10 PM
I wouldn't worry about the sun exploding. If anything, Earth is suffering from slight orbital decay so it'll eventually plummet into the sun.
By Yuki, at June 13, 2005 11:12 PM

Don't be absurd. The chosen planet is Venus, named after the goddess of beauty, no less.
By Yuki, at June 14, 2005 8:20 PM
Well said, you are forever unpredictable. More importabtly you used the word 'mwah' lol!
